moshi moshi i'm typing from fukuoka in my dingy lil' apartment which has limited internet access so communication with the outside world is pretty rare, therefore treasure this post! haha.

kyushu university is very old (almost derelict), but the people here are great - responsible, kind, caring and so very patient. admire them for their high tolerance levels when it comes to handling baffled students with limited japanese language knowledge heh.

so i have survived here for 5 days and endured all the hours spent trudging on foot from place to place, actually mainly around the equivalent of our orchard road - tenjin city area - for what else but shopping (mostly for julby and to fill my tummy with oishii japanese food) hoho. lessons are fun! am taking japanese history and literature, both fascinate me. am gonna meet up with some of my japanese friends who have kindly volunteered to bring me around their hometown, go on study trips, experience japan's wildest yamakasa festival (picture men prancing about in the nude save for triangular pieces of cloth to protect their modesty), stay with a local host family and hang out with the local students (think karaoke!)

out of courage/ stupidity, i have ventured into a salon to get a hair cut today. the result was disastrous, my fringe is now almost non-existent. so perhaps i shall skip school tomorrow and not see anyone! haha.

well anyway, i believe this summer exchange is gonna be a worthwhile and unforgettable experience for me, but unfortunately at the expense of julby haha. but jimi will take good care of her well-being i suppose, so that i can have a clearer conscience being miles and miles away. (sorry baby!) i miss all the rest of you too, drop me an sms if you wanna and also if you aren't expecting a reply lest my hp bill explodes heh. forty more days to go! pictures to be up soon i hope.
